AI-Mediated Writing Process
This line of research examines how multilingual and L2 writers engage with generative AI during authentic writing processes. Rather than treating prompting as an isolated act, I study how writers formulate requests, read and evaluate AI-generated text, revise their own writing, and coordinate AI with other digital tools across the writing process.
My work uses process-tracing methods such as screen recording, webcam-based eye tracking, stimulated recall, and interviews to make otherwise difficult-to-observe activities such as reading, attention, revision, and tool orchestration visible.
SNUWET: Ecological Data Collection for Digital Learning
This research explores how webcam-based eye tracking can support ecological and qualitative investigation of digital learning in naturalistic settings. A central part of this work is SNUWET, a webcam-based eye-tracking tool developed to capture learners’ visual attention while preserving the digital environments in which learning actually takes place.
I use SNUWET alongside screen recording and other process data to examine writing, reading, multimodal composing, and movement across digital tools and texts.
Postdigital Conversation Analysis
This line of research examines interaction in postdigital learning environments, where talk, screens, AI systems, documents, and other material resources are intertwined in the unfolding of activity. I am interested in how participants coordinate these resources moment by moment and how digital and non-digital elements become consequential within collaborative interaction.
This work uses close analysis of naturally occurring interaction to trace how meaning, participation, and action emerge through the coordination of talk, embodied conduct, technologies, and material environments.
